Today I downloaded the drivers for the above and all works well, the only problem is when it starts up it tells me I need OCR ENGINE??????

any ideas where I can get this from and what it does

OCR stands for Optical Character Recognition, it basically allows you to convert a scanned image into text so you can import it into a word processor. Most scanners come with a seperate OCR package such as Omnipage or Readiris, this wouldn't have come with the drivers you've downloaded so would have to be installed seperately. If you don't plan to do any OCRing then I wouldn't worry about it
