Realtek AC'97 issues

I'm currently using a Realtex AC'97 onboard sound chip with a brand new computer running Win XP Pro V2002 SP2, and have an interesting problem. I cannot get the onboard sound to pick up any signal when I record with ANY program. Everything else works fine sound-wise, but no recording. I have checked ALL of the volume tabs that I can find, and even device mgr says the sound is working properly... Any ideas?

When you open the mixer it normaly defaults to just showing the output levels, there's a tick box you need to check to get it to show the input levels. To switch open the Mixer, go to Options, Properties and make sure the dot is next to recording.
