the acpi driver is part of your main motherboard chipset have you loaded the main chipset drivers ?

if not all downloads for that dell can be found here.
http://support.dell.com/support/downloa ... id=&impid=

Phoenix are the people that made the bios chip in that desktop but intel are the peopel that made the main chipset.

what problems are you facing with the acpi controls ?

does xp list any problems in device manager.
will need as much info as you can so i can pin down the problem.
now if my memory is working xp did have problems with some acpi bios controls when it first came out.
service pack 1 sorted those problems , so if you running a very early version of xp please load up sp1 then sp2 then sp3
that should slove any problems between windows and the bios controls.
Thamesmead now theres a name i have not heard for a while :D

i spent most of my time in tenerife now. one of these days i just won't go back to the uk at all.
life is so much better out of london don't you think ?

Davey,

Well problem solved. Do not ask how but NO error message; so thank you. U enjoy the sun & do not work 2 hard. Rain here & cold but that is the Lakes. Would have it no other way. Always enjoyed the Ice & Snow. Never liked the Jungle. Always 2 hot. Beleive they have Caves over there? Use 2 do a bit; and climbing 2. Recue mainly but when I was fitter & younger.

SPEAK AGAIN SOON
