Maybe there's a hardware fault with your PC

it was alrite till idownloaded the drivers for the modem and tried to install them thats where it all started to go horribley wrong also it dosent help that im having to keep swapping base units over unpluggin and re pluggin the leads cause ive only got one monitor [till tomorrow that is] how much grief can one man take including the wife moaning about the mess all over the kitchen table im also trying to give up smokin

As modems are relatively cheap i.e. ~£15.00 can't you just get a new one?

nope checked the modem out that dosent seem to be the problem i think the problem is in the bios setups it seemed to be ok till i tried to set the video and modem drivers im trying to restore the system to factory [default]settings ive stripped it back to nothing bare motherboard no mem no h/drive cd rom 3.5 floppy drive and going to build from scratch
well here go!
